We offer an alternative way of life through our pathway programme

Bringing opportunity &            direction

A short-term solution given you time to make alternative arrangements
The Gateland working today to make a difference for tomorrow
We work in partnership with both the private sector and the local authorities where we all share a common interest in developing and supporting a particular group of young people we offer an alternative way of life through our pathway programme (Changing Directions).
Here you'll get an insight into the work we are currently undertaking and how we see the next phase operating where we can encouraging more young people and creating greater opportunities for staff and volunteers.
Working in three key areas in development & support
-   Personal Development
-   Offender Management
-   Supported Living
We work with those who are struggling to see a better future for themselves on the right side of the law, help break that recurring cycle, those finding it difficult to deal with and make sense of their present situation
Our client group is predominantly young males between the age of sixteen to twenty-two who have been before the courts and are deemed to be at risk,in need of a particular support package or a place of safety.
Working with the three big R's which are the fundamental building blocks at the heart of the Gateland where the foundations have been laid for :
-   Re-training
-   Rehabilitating
-   Re-educating
Whilst it is recognise that each local authority will provide the necessary care for Its service users. Inevitably there will always be individual cases / areas of training and support that are uneconomical for the authority to deliver. Here at the gateland we can provide some of those services through our pathway programme changing directions.
Our mission statement is quite simple
Improving the lives of our service users one of our strengths is the ability to create a space where young people can be inspired, thrive, learn new skills and most of all develop in a safe and friendly training environment.
Every young person will come to a cross road at some stage and for some we will be there with a action plan and the direction they need to be heading in order to change their present situation. We know with change challenges will comes and that's when our work really begins.
"A commitment to stand by our service users whilst they navigate
the maze of change on there new journey"
When their time with us come to an end we will be happy knowing when those challenges come again which they will, they will be far better equipped to take them on knowing they can't control every situation they find themselves in but they can control the outcome by using the skills they have learned.
We believe that young people who want and need to make significant changes to their way of life and are unsure of the correct path to take should be given the chance and opportunity to do so with us here at the gateland where we believe anything is possible with the correct training & support package in place.
