Working today to make a difference for tomorrow
We work in partnership with both the private sector and the local authorities
Where we all share a common interest in developing and supporting a particular group of young people, we offer an alternative way of life through our pathway programme (Changing Directions 2).

Here you'll get an insight into the work we are currently undertaking and how we see the next phase operating where we can encourage more young people and create greater opportunities for staff and volunteers.
Working in three key areas in development & support
- Personal Development
- Offender Management
- Supported Living
We work with those who are struggling to see a better future for themselves on the right side of the law. We help break that recurring cycle, those finding it difficult to deal with and make sense of their present situation.
Our client group is predominantly male between the ages of sixteen to twenty-two
Those who have been before the courts and are deemed to be in need of a particular support package or a place of safety.
Working with the three big R's. which are the fundamental building blocks at the heart of The Gateland where the foundations have been laid :
- Re-training
- Rehabilitating
- Re-educating
Whilst it is recognised that each local authority will provide the necessary care for it's service users, inevitably there will always be individual cases / areas of training and support that are uneconomical for the authority to deliver. Here at The Gateland we can provide some of those services through our pathway programme changing directions 2.

It's time to change direction, at The Gateland we make that change make sense
Our mission statement is quite simple and that is to improve lives
One of our strengths is the ability to create a space where young people can be inspired, thrive, learn new skills and most of all develop in a safe and friendly training environment.
At some stage every young person will come to a cross roads and for some we will be there with an action plan and the direction they need to be heading in order to change their present situation. We know with change there will be challenges and that is when our work really begins.
A commitment to stand by our service users whilst they navigate the maze of change on their new journey

When their time with us has come to an end, we will be happy knowing when those challenges arise again (which they will), they will be far better equipped to deal with them knowing they can't control every situation they find themselves in, but they can control the outcome by using the skills they have learned.
We believe that young people who want and need to make significant changes to their way of life and are unsure of the correct path to take should be given the chance and opportunity to do so. Here at The Gateland we believe anything is possible with the correct training & support package in place.

Some of our young people find it difficult to put the past behind them, but with the correct support they can overcome that hurdle and begin a new journey
Holistically we have always worked with young males
We have a number of interests in other areas relating to safeguarding, training & development that we feel we could contribute to.
